A hopefully insighful resource!

Am awaiting this book, now in transit. I experience seeing termites preparing for flight. As they came out of their holes, smaller sized bugs about 1/5th the size of the winged fliers surrounded those preparing for flight. This sight reminded me of when jet fighters are preparing to fly, the attending support crew attend to the jet, preparing it for flight. ewwww! what a horrid observation.

Real pictures of rescues made by using a helicopters, include a brief history of early helicopters and contains a glossary with vocabulary words and definitions (ex: base, dispatcher, emergency and hover.) Also supplies more resources and websites for children to learn about them! My daycare loves this book!

Tent Camping in the San Juan Mountains

Mr. Molloy's book Best In Tent Camping: Colorado was a great help in planning my trip to the San Juan Mountains. After reading the book, I flew to Durango and then drove to Transfer Park to set up my base camp. Mr. Molloy was correct. Transfer Park was lived up to his description. I camped by the fast flowing Florida River, enjoying the sunny summer days and cool mountain nights. During the days I headed to the nearby Weminuche Wilderness and day hiked up the Los Pinos River and Flint Creek. Since Transfer Park is close to Durango, I was able to go into town for supplies,a little shopping and even a rafting trip down the Animas River. With the help of Mr. Molloy's book I was able to plan and execute a very sucessful vacation. If you are planning a tent camping trip to Colorado I would definitely purchase this book.

My Colorado Vacation

Johnny Molloy's book on Colorado was a great help. I'd never been to Colorado beore and didn't know where to start. With only two weeks of vacation, I wanted to make every day count. With this book, I enjoyed classic destinations like Rocky Mountain National Parks Timber Creek campground, where elk strolled by my camp and Mesa Verde campground where I saw Anasazi ruins. But the book also led me to lesser known destinations like Dominguez Canyon, a BLM campground on the Uncompahgre Plateau. Here, I fished for trout and did a little mountain biking. My vacation was made complete by this book: not to mention the money I saved tent camping instead of staying in expensive lodges. If you are going to invest you time in visiting Colorado outdoors, invest in this book!

Great book for campers who know what they're looking for.

My husband and I truly enjoy camping in Colorado, and have spent every summer we've lived here touring the state and camping out. We NEVER stay in a hotel. It's so exciting to visit new places and enjoy the beauty of nature. It's so important to me to find "THE" perfect camp site, and sometimes that's not easy when time or resources are limited. Johnny Malloy gives you the right amount of information for each campground he reviews so that you can feel confident that when you get to where you're going, you won't feel disappointed. Some reviews include information about the geography of the area, crowds, activities nearby, and even which site(s) is(are) the best site at the campground. He also includes the elevation of each campground which is important because it gets cold in Colorado at night sometimes! About the Author

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was born of Irish parentage in Scotland. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, but he also had a passion for storytelling. His first book introduced that prototype of the modern detective in fiction, Sherlock Holmes. Despite the immense popularity Holmes gained throughout the world, Doyle was not overly fond of the character and preferred to write other stories. Eventually popular demand won out and he continued to satisfy readers with the adventures of the legendary sleuth. He also wrote historical romances and made two essays into pseudoscientific fantasy: The Lost World and The Poison Belt.

McSherry is an artist and writer. His articles and stories have appeared in such magazines as The Armchair Detective and Mike Shayne.

Gems of their time

Writing in the early part of this century, Doyle (best known for creating Sherlock Holmes) created a series of horror stories with a bent towards spiritualism and mystery. The selection is a good range of work with some very strong entries. "The Case of Lady Sannox" and "The Leather Funnel" are particular stand-outs. Some of Doyle's is more dated than others, but still definitely worth a read.

Good but not good enough

The Stories taken from the "Tales of Terror and Mystery"tion are good but the others are quite horrible. Also the version I have has 1 story missing "The Confession" and a fantastic tale from "T&M" is not part of this collection. Production values average. Buy that collection instead. A much better deal.

I selected this book for ages 12 and 14, and found good info for adults as well. The photos are wonderfully vivid, the text in depth and still easy to read. It covers the parks history, conservation efforts, and explanations of the hydro-thermal and geological features of Yellowstone.
Also included is a section on tourist sites, accommodations, and activities for the visitor. My only disappointment was there is
nothing on ways readers can join preservation efforts, on-going or future plans. At least a brief discussion of how to get
involved, with online sites, would have been helpful.

Outdoorsperson Wood, author of The 2 Oz. Backpacker (Ten Speed Pr., 1982) and Pleasure Packing for the '80s (Ten Speed Pr., 1981), shares his hiking experiences and offers advice for novices as well as seasoned walkers. Wood's enthusiasm is conveyed in ten chapters covering major points of interest to the beginning dayhiker: where to find the best trails, how to conserve energy, what to eat, how to select clothing and equipment, how to handle trailside first aid, and how to find a route. Unfortunately, Wood's chapter on map and compass reading is too brief, while his nutritional advice (e.g., eat only fruit before noon) and espousal of homeopathic first aid remedies are open to debate. A lack of a bibliography is an important omission. Nevertheless, there is much valuable information on hiking technique, preparation, and places to go. Recommended as a supplement to public library outdoor recreation collections--especially at this price.

About the Author
Alan W. Scheflin, LL.M. is Professor of Law at Santa Clara University Law School. Author of two previous books with three others currently in preparation, Scheflin has also written a number of articles for professional journals and law reviews. He was invited to give testimony before the United States Congress and the California Senate Committee on the Judiciary, and appeared as an expert witness on mind and behavior control in Federal District Court.
Jerrold Lee Shapiro, Ph.D. is Associate Professor in the Graduate Division of Couseling Psychology and Education at Santa Clara University. Co-Director of OHANA Family Therapy Institute of San Jose and Los Altos, California, he also serves on the Clinical Faculty at Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in Menlo Park. He has authored four other books as well as numerous book chapters and journal articles.

I have been in law enforcement for 38 years. I have been doing hypnosis in this field since 1999. If you plan on using forensic hypnosis in your profession as a law officer, then this book is a must. It outlines case history and what you need to look and be a professional on the stand. Psychologists do not know how to conduct proper police investigations and this is the reason you not only have to rely on your practices as a law officer but know how cases around the country can impact your hypnosis investigations. This book is a must to read in the course that I do when you become a hypnotist as well as a must to read in another course that offers training as a forensic hypnotist. I always refer back to this book and you will to.

Aerobic Exercise with Target Toning

Marilyn L. Bach, Ph. D. is a fitness consultant and Lorie Schleck, M.A., P.T., is a fitness consultant. Together, they have developed a total fitness program to encourage a healthier life. There are six main chapters/steps:

1. Making the Decision - Deciding to "fitness walk."

2. Getting Started with Fitness Walking - Target Zone information and Creating a Custom Program.

3. Fitness Walking Plus - Incorporating toning into your walking

4. Strength Training - A 15 and 30-minute strength training program.

5. Target Toning - Toning exercises that will enhance your walking.

6. A Week in the Life of a ShapeWalker - Liz, Tom and Jodi share their secrets and you can see charts of walking activities. Throughout this book, you will find pictures of toning exercises and walking techniques.

At the end of the book, you can find a Fitness Walking Record. I also found I could keep track of my walking in a fitness journal. This section of the book is essential to keep you focused and motivated. Before keeping a fitness journal I could not see where I was going or where I had been. When you keep track of your progress, it is highly motivational. At that point, you keep increasing your knowledge and you find out what works.

If you are continuously working on your New Year's resolutions, this book can give you new goals for the coming year. I tend to want to start new projects in the summer, although walking is a year-round activity you can enjoy in any season. I started becoming more serious about my walking over 51 weeks ago and it was the breakthrough I needed. When you only stretch and do Pilates and Yoga, you can see good results in muscle tone, but it is the walking or other aerobic exercises that take you to a new level in your fitness. I found that just doing one or the other is definitely not as effective as doing aerobics and toning. That made my walking easier and made my toning sessions much more enjoyable because I had more endurance and a new level of confidence.

Not only does walking oxygenate the body, it helps you to feel less stiff, can reduce bodily pain and will definitely help you lose inches. Since I started my walking program I've lost about 11 ½ inches. I did notice that when you gain muscle, your weight takes a while to regulate and then drops week by week. This was also mentioned on some of the makeover shows on TV, but is rarely mentioned in health books.

Whether you are just starting a walking program or have decided to incorporate target toning, this book has a lot to offer. This is the new edition and not only does this book help you develop a walking program, the authors give special attention to the abs, butt, thighs and arms.

ShapeWalking may encourage you to take a 10-minute walk before lunch or you may find yourself looking forward to walking on your treadmill while watching a new movie. When I started my walking program, I didn't push myself too much and this seems to be why I was able to keep up with the program. If you burn out at the start by overdoing it, the result will be a rejection of healing. Healing should be a fun process and when you keep track of your inches lost, you will love walking. You might also enjoy wearing a pedometer at first to see how many steps you are talking. When I saw how little I was walking at first; that made me very aware of how much I needed to move.

Winter Tips: Layer your clothes, look for waterproof walking shoes, plan your route before you leave the house. Use Walk Away the Pounds workouts if it is icy outside.

The most important thing is to just keep moving. When you realize how good it feels when you do exercise, you can never go back to not exercising. A few hidden benefits of walking include:
