A pretty, well illustrated book that is not much help in finding chanterelles

This is a book translated from the Swedish and was originally written for a Swedish audience. He spends about a quarter of the book dealing with the history of chanterelles, four pages dealing with biology, ecology and geography, two pages on popular names for chanterelles, and then 14 sections covering various chanterelle and related mushroom species. Each section has a page to two pages of text and two to three pages of lavish painted illustrations of the species and its habitat. The paintings are beautiful but for the purposes of identifying chanterelles and their habitat, photos would work better. Four pages on chanterelles outside of Europe then follow and he concludes with 24 pages on cooking with chanterelles. A mycologist might find this book interesting but for the novice it will disappoint. When you finish reading the book you will know as much about finding chanterelles as when you began.
