Kaitiakitanga is a Con.
By Guardians of the Real Truth
Firstly I havn't read this book and I don't intend to, for the following reasons:
1) Kaitiakitanga was never an ancient Maori word, or concept...it is a modern made up word. Made up by what we call in this country the 1/4 Maoris (there are no full blooded Maoris left) whose main aim is to form an apartheid and racially select elite based on the fallacy that 'they were here first' so 'they' are the guardians of the land....what they really mean is "Give me taxpayers money". New Zealand already has a Department of Conservation...we don't need a bunch of pseudo Maoris running around pretending to do the same thing.
2)There is no such thing as an ancient Maori secret for saving the earth. Ancient Maori were, purely and simply rapers and pillagers of the land and it's resources with no thought or concept as to consequence. Hence the extinction of some 60 bird species in this country that can be attributed directly to ancient Maori.
3)By the early 1800's Maori were so dysfunctional as a society and so short of protein from natural sources, that they resorted to eating each other. War parties would take slaves with them when travelling to battle, so that they had a mobile food source.Slaves were given full chiefly facial tattoos (Moko's) so that their heads could then be cut off and steamed (shrunk) and then sold to European traders (who then on sold them to museums) in order to buy muskets.
The average age of Maori at this time was about 35 years, and most of them were suffering from what we would call 'Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome' so afraid were they of being invaded,murdered and eaten. So warlike and dysfunctional was Maori society that they murdered infant girls so that they wouldn't have to feed them...while keeping the boys, of course, so that they could be trained as warriors.
4)So please don't insult readers by telling them that somehow these modern pseudo Maori's are somehow guardians of an ancient secret...it's a Con...they aren't...and they never have been.
