When the perilous journey across the French countryside becomes even more dangerous, Delman finds his own survival is at risk.

Prisoners is fascinating!

Talk about an anti-war book... I don't know if there exists another book that examines this fascinating yet horrific aspect of World War II; and, it does so by telling a story of the conditions and the near-hopelessness of the German POWs' situation -- without ever failing to remind us that the prisoners are Nazis.
I wasn't surprised to read that author has first-hand knowledge of the camps, as the story is told in oftentimes excrutiating detail -- but the type of detail that you hunger for. This is clearly a can't-put-down-until-you're-finished novel that tells a tough tale sensitively, artfully, and -- at times -- shockingly.

I really enjoyed this read.
Mr. Zollo has kept this story inside for a long time but it was worth the wait.
Beautifully written with real characters. If a novel can be more realistically set into history, I want to read it!
I thank the author for entertaining me with his modern memory of a difficult period in history.

But when supplies run low for all the people at the camp, both soldier and prisoner, a unique and strange plan is hatched. "Prisoners" is a unique take on World War II novels and a fascinating read.

A hopefully insighful resource!

Am awaiting this book, now in transit. I experience seeing termites preparing for flight. As they came out of their holes, smaller sized bugs about 1/5th the size of the winged fliers surrounded those preparing for flight. This sight reminded me of when jet fighters are preparing to fly, the attending support crew attend to the jet, preparing it for flight. ewwww! what a horrid observation.

It could be a perfect book for kids. However, we were very disappointed about this book when we received it. It was expected to give us some helpful information about how to treat if it was proven to be termites in our yards.

Great Book!

Real pictures of rescues made by using a helicopters, include a brief history of early helicopters and contains a glossary with vocabulary words and definitions (ex: base, dispatcher, emergency and hover.) Also supplies more resources and websites for children to learn about them! My daycare loves this book!

Tent Camping in the San Juan Mountains

Mr. Molloy's book Best In Tent Camping: Colorado was a great help in planning my trip to the San Juan Mountains. After reading the book, I flew to Durango and then drove to Transfer Park to set up my base camp. Mr. Molloy was correct. Transfer Park was lived up to his description. I camped by the fast flowing Florida River, enjoying the sunny summer days and cool mountain nights. During the days I headed to the nearby Weminuche Wilderness and day hiked up the Los Pinos River and Flint Creek. Since Transfer Park is close to Durango, I was able to go into town for supplies,a little shopping and even a rafting trip down the Animas River. With the help of Mr. Molloy's book I was able to plan and execute a very sucessful vacation. If you are planning a tent camping trip to Colorado I would definitely purchase this book.

My Colorado Vacation

Johnny Molloy's book on Colorado was a great help. I'd never been to Colorado beore and didn't know where to start. With only two weeks of vacation, I wanted to make every day count. With this book, I enjoyed classic destinations like Rocky Mountain National Parks Timber Creek campground, where elk strolled by my camp and Mesa Verde campground where I saw Anasazi ruins. But the book also led me to lesser known destinations like Dominguez Canyon, a BLM campground on the Uncompahgre Plateau. Here, I fished for trout and did a little mountain biking. My vacation was made complete by this book: not to mention the money I saved tent camping instead of staying in expensive lodges. If you are going to invest you time in visiting Colorado outdoors, invest in this book!

Great book for campers who know what they're looking for.

My husband and I truly enjoy camping in Colorado, and have spent every summer we've lived here touring the state and camping out. We NEVER stay in a hotel. It's so exciting to visit new places and enjoy the beauty of nature. It's so important to me to find "THE" perfect camp site, and sometimes that's not easy when time or resources are limited. Johnny Malloy gives you the right amount of information for each campground he reviews so that you can feel confident that when you get to where you're going, you won't feel disappointed. Some reviews include information about the geography of the area, crowds, activities nearby, and even which site(s) is(are) the best site at the campground. He also includes the elevation of each campground which is important because it gets cold in Colorado at night sometimes! Using this book, you can easily find the right information about a campground so that you can really enjoy your time spent outdoors.

About the Author

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was born of Irish parentage in Scotland. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, but he also had a passion for storytelling. His first book introduced that prototype of the modern detective in fiction, Sherlock Holmes. Despite the immense popularity Holmes gained throughout the world, Doyle was not overly fond of the character and preferred to write other stories. Eventually popular demand won out and he continued to satisfy readers with the adventures of the legendary sleuth. He also wrote historical romances and made two essays into pseudoscientific fantasy: The Lost World and The Poison Belt.

McSherry is an artist and writer. His articles and stories have appeared in such magazines as The Armchair Detective and Mike Shayne.

Gems of their time

Writing in the early part of this century, Doyle (best known for creating Sherlock Holmes) created a series of horror stories with a bent towards spiritualism and mystery. The selection is a good range of work with some very strong entries. "The Case of Lady Sannox" and "The Leather Funnel" are particular stand-outs. Some of Doyle's is more dated than others, but still definitely worth a read.

Good but not good enough

The Stories taken from the "Tales of Terror and Mystery"tion are good but the others are quite horrible. Also the version I have has 1 story missing "The Confession" and a fantastic tale from "T&M" is not part of this collection. Production values average. Buy that collection instead. A much better deal.

I selected this book for ages 12 and 14, and found good info for adults as well. The photos are wonderfully vivid, the text in depth and still easy to read. It covers the parks history, conservation efforts, and explanations of the hydro-thermal and geological features of Yellowstone.
Also included is a section on tourist sites, accommodations, and activities for the visitor. My only disappointment was there is
nothing on ways readers can join preservation efforts, on-going or future plans. At least a brief discussion of how to get
involved, with online sites, would have been helpful.
